The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced the launch of the first edition of the “Kahun Run” marathon 🏃♂️🔥 at the Giza Pyramids area 🏜️, scheduled for May 7, 2026, as part of a major international sports event.
The event coincides with the conclusion of the World Veterinary Medicine Association conference, hosted for the first time in the Middle East 🌍, along with the first veterinary congress in Egypt held at the Grand Egyptian Museum 🏛️ on May 5–6, 2026.
The marathon reflects Egypt’s strategy to boost sports tourism and strengthen its position as a global destination for major international events 🇪🇬🔥.
The name “Kahun Run” is inspired by the ancient Kahun Papyrus 📜, one of the oldest known medical documents in history, showcasing the advanced medical knowledge of ancient Egyptian civilization 🧠⚕️.
The event is organized jointly by “Event Sport” and the ISAVA Veterinary Association 🤝, with around 1000 participants from different nationalities 🌍🏃♀️, highlighting Egypt’s growing presence in global sporting events.
The competition includes four distances:
1 km and 2 km walking 🚶♂️
5 km and 10 km running 🏃♂️🔥
The marathon is held for the first time at the Pyramids area 🏜️, one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world 🌍✨.
This event is part of the Ministry’s sports tourism agenda aimed at combining sports, culture, and tourism while promoting Egypt’s tourism destinations 🇪🇬🏆.
