Mohamed Abdel Ghalil Sparks Debate: “Al Ahly Don’t Deserve the League, Zamalek Do”
Former Egypt star criticizes Al Ahly’s performance this season and praises Zamalek in a heated title race
Former Egyptian football star Mohamed Abdel Ghalil has sparked controversy with strong comments about the Egyptian Premier League title race this season ⚽🔥, claiming that Al Ahly do not deserve to win the league, while Zamalek are more deserving of the title.
Speaking to journalist Karim Ramzy on Mega FM 🎙️🔥, Abdel Ghalil said:
“Al Ahly don’t deserve the league this season. Zamalek deserve it because of the difficult circumstances they went through, even though Al Ahly spent millions without real benefit.”
He further added ⚡:
“The Al Ahly players don’t even see coach Jes Thorup on the pitch. He doesn’t have enough personality, and the players have let down the board and the fans.”
Abdel Ghalil also pointed to a lack of harmony within the squad, stressing that the performances do not match the club’s heavy investments 💰⚽.
Despite his criticism, he predicted a 2-0 win for Al Ahly against Pyramids 🔥, saying the team could still “explode” at decisive moments.
He also criticized the current league format, stating:
“I hope the league returns to its traditional format. The current two-phase system is not fair and affects competition integrity.”
His comments come at a crucial stage of the season, as Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids continue their intense battle for the Egyptian Premier League title 🏆🔥.
