📢 Abdel Monsef Praises Egypt’s Young Generation

Mohamed Abdel Monsef, Egypt’s youth national-team goalkeeping coach, has praised the current generation of players born in 2007, insisting that the squad contains several promising talents who could become important figures in Egyptian football in the coming years.

His comments came after Egypt’s successful North African qualifying campaign, where Waleed Riyad’s side won the tournament and secured qualification for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing top of the standings with nine points following a 2-0 victory over Algeria.

🔥 “October Is a Month of Victories”

Speaking to presenter Karim Ramzy on Mega FM, Abdel Monsef said the coaching staff had been keen to deal with the young players in a way suited to their age and development.

He also highlighted the significance of completing the qualification campaign on October 6, describing the date as a special one for Egyptian football and saying the victory provided the players with an important boost.

Egypt finished two points ahead of Morocco in the final standings after the five-round qualifying campaign.

⭐ Clubs Urged to Follow the Young Talents

Abdel Monsef also called on Egyptian clubs to pay close attention to the players emerging from the national youth team.

He stressed that the coaching staff had effectively given clubs the green light to monitor the youngsters and invest more in their development, believing that the current generation possesses the personality and ability needed to progress.

Although the squad does not currently include overseas-based players, Abdel Monsef believes that does not reflect a lack of quality, but rather an opportunity to develop a group of talented Egyptian players who could eventually take the next step abroad.

🌍 ENPPI Duo Deserve Overseas Opportunities

The former goalkeeper specifically highlighted Anas Rashdy and Abaza from ENPPI, saying he believes the duo deserve the chance to pursue professional careers outside Egypt.

Abdel Monsef also praised Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Hamdy, while suggesting that the entire defensive line possesses the qualities required to compete for opportunities abroad if their development continues in the right direction.

Egypt’s official youth-team lists include several players from ENPPI, Zamalek and other Egyptian clubs, underlining the strong club representation within the 2007 generation.

🏆 The North African Title Is Only the Beginning

For Abdel Monsef, winning the North African qualifiers is not the final objective. Instead, it represents an important stage before the much bigger challenge at the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.

The Egyptian Football Association confirmed that the team secured qualification after a campaign that included victories over Libya, Tunisia and Algeria, alongside a defeat to Morocco.

🇪🇬 A Generation That Needs Support

The move from regional competition to the continental stage will place greater responsibility on both the coaching staff and the players’ clubs.

The next challenge will be ensuring that these young talents continue to receive regular playing opportunities and the right environment to develop, whether in the Egyptian league or eventually through moves abroad.

For Egyptian football, the hope is that the success of the 2007 generation will become the foundation for producing another group of senior international stars.
