Off-the-Ball Punch Could Cost Players Five Games and 200K Fine!
Strict penalties in the new Egyptian League rules, including bans and fines.
The Egyptian Professional Clubs Association has unveiled the updated regulations for the 2025–2026 Egyptian Premier League season, outlining a range of strict disciplinary penalties aimed at reinforcing professionalism, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct across all participating clubs.
Strict Penalties for Aggressive Behavior
According to the new regulations, any player or coach who physically assaults an opponent—whether with the ball or off the ball—using punching, slapping, kicking, or headbutting, will face a suspension of up to five matches and a fine of EGP 200,000. This reflects the Association’s commitment to curbing violence on the pitch.
Obligations Regarding the League Trophy
The league-winning team is now fully responsible for maintaining the condition of the championship trophy. The club must return it in its original state, and if damaged or lost, the club is required to pay compensation as determined by the Association’s board. In the event of theft, breakage, or any damage, the club must notify the Association immediately.
Sanctions for Spitting and Blasphemy
The regulations also address unsporting conduct such as spitting. If a member of the technical or administrative staff spits at an opponent or spectator, they will be banned for two matches and fined EGP 75,000. For players, the punishment increases to a three-match suspension and a EGP 100,000 fine, which doubles to six matches and EGP 200,000 if repeated.
Regarding offensive or discriminatory language, particularly religious slurs or remarks based on race or ethnicity, any team staff member found guilty will be suspended for five matches. Players committing such offenses will also be suspended for five games and fined EGP 50,000, reflecting a zero-tolerance policy on discriminatory behavior.
League Draw Ceremony and Season Preparations
The draw ceremony for the new season was recently held at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in Sixth of October City. The event was attended by prominent figures, including EFA President Eng. Hany Abo Rida, and Ahmed Diab, President of the Clubs Association, along with club officials and representatives.
During the event, Diab emphasized the strong coordination between the Association and the EFA to ensure a well-organized and competitive season. He added that the regulatory updates were based on proposals submitted by the clubs during a dedicated review window. To ensure full transparency, the new league and Egypt Capital Cup regulations, along with the updated disciplinary code, were published on the official Association website and distributed in advance to all clubs.
