⚽ Dispute over Hamza Abdelmeguid’s financial dues
The financial dispute between Hamza Abdelmeguid and Zamalek has entered a more serious phase after the former defender reportedly sent an official warning to the club demanding payment of what he considers outstanding financial dues.
Zamalek, however, has presented a completely different account, insisting that Abdelmeguid received all of his financial entitlements through September 23 and that no money remains owed to him.
The dispute dates back to the period before Abdelmeguid left Zamalek for Bulgarian club Ludogorets, with reports emerging that the player had yet to receive what he considered the full amount due to him under his previous agreement with the Egyptian club.
📢 Zamalek: Abdelmeguid has been fully paid
A source inside Zamalek said the player had already received his complete financial dues through September 23 after the club applied the relevant deductions.
According to the source, a 10 percent deduction from the player’s contract value was applied because he had not won two or more trophies with Zamalek.
Based on the club’s account, the financial file involving Abdelmeguid has therefore been settled, with no outstanding payments remaining.
This version directly conflicts with reports that the player has since taken formal steps to demand additional money from his former club.
🔥 Hany Hethout details the player’s side
Broadcaster Hany Hethout previously revealed details of the dispute on “Modern Sport,” explaining that Abdelmeguid had been among the lower-paid players at Zamalek before his move to Ludogorets.
According to Hethout’s account, the player contacted the club through his agent Samer Salama to ask about delayed payments after receiving assurances that part of his August dues would be paid.
A limited amount was initially transferred, but Abdelmeguid reportedly believed that the payment did not represent the full amount he was entitled to and requested the remaining balance.
💰 Around 70 percent reportedly transferred
Hethout said Zamalek subsequently asked the player to wait while the payment procedures were completed.
According to his account, around 70 percent of the outstanding amount was later transferred following the completion of Juan Bezerra’s move to Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE.
The transfer reportedly provided Zamalek with additional financial liquidity, allowing the club to pay a number of players’ dues.
Afterward, Abdelmeguid’s agent contacted the club again to ask about the remaining amount and was reportedly told that the outstanding sum required additional signatures related to bonuses and appearances before the final payment could be processed.
📋 Official warning and 30-day deadline
According to Hethout, the remaining amount was not transferred despite the previous assurances, prompting Abdelmeguid to take formal action.
The player reportedly sent an official warning to Zamalek, requesting that his financial dues be paid within 30 days.
Should the matter remain unresolved, the player could take further legal steps and file a formal complaint, according to the account presented by Hethout.
The player’s position, as described in the report, is that he was promised payment of the remaining amount and is seeking clarification over why the process has not been completed.
⭐ Two conflicting versions of the dispute
The case now revolves around two completely different accounts.
Abdelmeguid’s side maintains that there are outstanding financial dues that have not been fully paid, while Zamalek insists that the player’s financial rights were settled through September 23 after the agreed deductions were applied.
The final resolution is therefore likely to depend on the contractual documents, payment records and other financial evidence rather than conflicting media reports.
Should the two sides fail to reach an agreement, the dispute could move to an official process before the relevant bodies responsible for resolving financial disputes between players and clubs.
Abdelmeguid has already begun a new chapter with Ludogorets, but his financial relationship with Zamalek remains a subject of controversy until the matter is formally settled.
