🤝 Cairo to Host Jerusalem International Armwrestling Championship
Fares Hijazi, president of the Palestine Armwrestling Federation, revealed preparations for the Jerusalem International Armwrestling Championship, which will be held in Cairo on October 10 and 11 at the Dar Officers Artillery Hall in Nasr City.
Hijazi explained that the event has attracted interest from several Arab federations, saying he has received calls from presidents and officials of Arab armwrestling federations regarding participation in the championship.
🏆 Palestinian Organization With Egyptian Supervision
The Jerusalem International Championship is being organized and sponsored by the Palestine Armwrestling Federation under the supervision of the Egyptian federation, headed by Major General Mahmoud Barakat, following approval from Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports to host the event.
According to Hijazi, the championship forms part of a broader cooperation program between the Palestinian and Egyptian federations, with the aim of developing the sport and strengthening its presence across the Arab region.
🌍 Arab Participation and Wider Cooperation
Fares Hijazi said the championship represents an opportunity to expand cooperation among Arab armwrestling federations, particularly with several federations expressing interest in taking part.
The Palestinian federation views the Cairo event as an opportunity to bring athletes, coaches and referees from Arab countries together while opening the door for additional cooperation programs in the future.
🎓 Coaching and Refereeing Courses
The Palestinian and Egyptian federations have also agreed to organize training and development courses for coaches and referees alongside the championship.
The courses are intended to improve the technical and officiating skills of participants while contributing to the development of armwrestling in Palestine, Egypt and the wider Arab region.
🇵🇸 Large Palestinian Delegation Expected
Hijazi confirmed that Palestine will participate with a large delegation, alongside members of the federation’s board of directors, administrators, technical staff and accompanying officials.
The Palestinian participation is aimed at making a strong appearance at the championship while also benefiting from the educational, coaching and officiating activities taking place around the competition.
🇪🇬 Praise for Egypt’s Role in Hosting the Event
The president of the Palestine Armwrestling Federation praised Egypt’s role in hosting the championship, stressing that the Egyptian side moved quickly to complete the arrangements.
Hijazi said the event’s proceeds will go entirely to the Palestinian federation, while also noting the role of the Egyptian state, represented by Youth and Sports Minister Johar Nabil, in facilitating the hosting of the championship.
He added that the initiative reflects, in his words, the depth of the sporting cooperation and relations between the two sides.

Fares Hijazi concluded by highlighting the importance of the championship to the Palestinian federation, saying: “Egypt will bring the Arabs together during the Jerusalem Championship, which is unique in its nature.”
He also stressed the federation’s intention to continue cooperation with the Egyptian side and seek to hold the championship for many years to come, helping expand armwrestling and increase Arab participation.
