Real Madrid Rejects Reconciliation and Shocks France Football Ahead of the Ballon d’Or
Tensions continue between Real Madrid and Ballon d’Or organizers over Vinícius being overlooked, with a possible boycott of the 2025 ceremony.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market specialist at Sky Sports, has confirmed that France Football magazine has failed in its attempt to resolve the ongoing dispute with Real Madrid ahead of the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Real Madrid had previously decided to boycott the prestigious annual event after learning that their Brazilian star, Vinícius Júnior, would not win the award last year, despite being one of the frontrunners. The Ballon d'Or ultimately went to Manchester City’s Rodri.
French Delegation Fails to Settle the Dispute
According to Romano’s report on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, a delegation from France Football traveled to Madrid in an effort to ease tensions and restore relations. However, the meeting ended without a breakthrough, and the strained relationship between the two parties remains unresolved.
Romano wrote:
“Tension remains between Real Madrid and the Ballon d'Or organizers. A French delegation visited Madrid to fix the situation, but things did not end positively.”
Ballon d’Or 2025 Ceremony Approaches Amid Possible Boycott
The Ballon d'Or 2025 ceremony is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks to announce the best player in the world for the past season. With no resolution in sight, there are increasing signs that Real Madrid may once again skip the ceremony, especially as the club remains firm in its stance over what it sees as unfair treatment of one of its key stars.
