Recovery Training for Al Ahly Players Ahead of Crucial Clash Against Porto
Al Ahly conclude training in New Jersey ahead of a crucial Club World Cup clash against Porto.
Al Ahly’s first football team completed their final training session this evening at Pingry School’s pitch in New Jersey, USA, as part of their preparations for the highly anticipated showdown against FC Porto in the third and final round of the group stage of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
The session began with a detailed tactical meeting led by Portuguese head coach José Ribeiro, who stressed the importance of the upcoming match, describing it as a do-or-die encounter that requires maximum focus, tactical discipline, and technical precision to secure a place in the next round.
Ribeiro urged his players to put aside the result of the previous match against Brazil’s Palmeiras and to focus solely on achieving victory against Porto. He emphasized that qualification is still within reach, provided Al Ahly earn all three points and await the outcome of the group’s other fixture.
Training saw the squad split into two groups. The starting lineup from the Palmeiras match underwent recovery sessions under the supervision of the medical staff to aid recovery and prevent fatigue. Meanwhile, the second group engaged in intensive physical and technical drills, including tactical exercises specific to the upcoming match.
Al Ahly’s coaching staff hope to have the team in peak condition before facing Porto, especially since victory is now the team’s only option to stay in contention for progression, given the current standings.
Group A Standings (as of now):
Palmeiras – 4 points (goal difference +2)
Inter Miami – 4 points (goal difference +1)
Porto – 1 point (goal difference -1)
Al Ahly – 1 point (goal difference -2)
Al Ahly will face Porto at 4:00 AM Cairo time on Tuesday, June 24, hoping to snatch a qualification spot and continue their campaign in the global tournament.
