Reda Slim Begins Procedures to Join Morocco’s FAR Rabat on Loan
Moroccan winger Reda Slim, a player for Al Ahly SC, has started the travel arrangements to return to his homeland in preparation for officially joining FAR Rabat (Royal Army Club) on a one-season loan. The move comes just hours before the closure of the summer transfer window in Morocco, offering Slim a fresh opportunity to regain form and consistent game time after a period of limited participation at Al Ahly.
Crucial Meeting Finalizes Deal Before Deadline
Mohamed Youssef, Al Ahly's Sporting Director, held an extended meeting with Slim at the club’s headquarters to finalize all administrative and logistical aspects of the loan deal. This step was taken to ensure the player travels and is registered in time. The club remains committed to managing player transfers professionally while also considering each player's preferences and future prospects.
Slim Rejects Local Offers, Insists on Moroccan Return
Despite receiving serious offers from several Egyptian Premier League clubs — most notably ZED FC and Ceramica Cleopatra — Slim firmly declined any domestic moves. He expressed his strong desire to return to the Moroccan league, specifically via FAR Rabat, especially since the deal guarantees him the same salary he was earning at Al Ahly and the opportunity for regular first-team football, which could help him reclaim a spot in the Moroccan national team.
Al Ahly Initially Preferred a Domestic Loan
Al Ahly’s management had initially hoped to loan Slim to a local club, viewing it as the better sporting and financial option, particularly in light of the strong interest from Egyptian teams willing to take on his full salary. However, the club ultimately chose to respect the player’s wishes, agreeing to the Moroccan loan for one season with the possibility of reassessing the situation afterward.
Foreign Quota Limits Prompt Overseas Move
It’s worth noting that Slim was removed from Al Ahly’s domestic squad list during the January transfer window due to injury. With no available foreign player slots in the squad for the new season, registering him became difficult. This prompted the club to market him internationally in order to maintain his development and potential future value to the team.
Al Ahly Gears Up for a Tough League Start
Meanwhile, Al Ahly is set to kick off its Egyptian Premier League campaign with a challenging opening match against Modern Sport this Saturday at 9 PM at Cairo International Stadium. In the second round, they will face Pharco FC, again on home turf.
The first ten league fixtures are packed with high-stakes encounters, including a crucial match against Pyramids FC in round five — a rematch of last season's title race — followed by the Egyptian Clasico against Zamalek in round nine, a fixture that could significantly impact the title race.
Strong Signings and Major Departures Ahead of New Season
As part of their squad overhaul and preparation for the new season, Al Ahly made a series of high-profile signings. These include Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, the return of international winger Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet”, Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, Ahmed Mostafa “Zizo”, goalkeeper Mohamed Siha from Arab Contractors, and defender Ahmed Ramadan Beckham from Ceramica. The club also completed the permanent signing of Mostafa El-Ash from ZED FC, added Mohamed Shokry and Yassin Marai to reinforce the defense, and secured Mohamed Sherif on a free transfer.
Conversely, 12 players have departed the squad for various reasons, including: Wisam Abou Ali, Ali Maaloul, Amr El-Sulaya, Akram Tawfik, Hamza Alaa, Rami Rabia, Yahia Attiat-Allah, Khaled Abdel Fattah, and Karim Nedved, while Karim El-Debes, Omar El-Saai, and Sameer Mohamed were sent out on loan.
