Safaan El-Saghir: Ahmed El-Shenawy Will Join the National Team… and We Were Attacked Because of the Twins’ Success

Egypt’s goalkeeping coach Safaan El-Saghir announced that Ahmed El-Shenawy, the Pyramids FC goalkeeper, will soon join the Egyptian national team, emphasizing that the door remains open for every talented player.
Speaking on “Leeba We El-Tanya” with host Karim Ramzy on Mega FM, El-Saghir said: “Ahmed El-Shenawy is one of the best goalkeepers in Egypt. There’s no problem between him and the coaching staff, and he will be part of the squad in the upcoming period.”
He added that El-Shenawy might feature in the friendly tournament to be held in the UAE next month, explaining that the coaching team welcomes any player who performs well: “We’re all in the same boat, and our goal is the success of the national team.”
🧤 El-Saghir also praised Zamalek’s goalkeeper Mahdy Soliman, saying: “He’s a talented player with strong abilities, and the national team door is always open for him once he starts playing regularly.”
He continued: “I told Mahdy that joining Zamalek is a big move, but it comes with challenges because of the presence of Awad and Sobhi.”
⚽ The coach also highlighted the strong bond between Mohamed El-Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir: “There’s an incredible friendship and respect between them. El-Shenawy, Sobhi, and Shobeir all have the talent to play in top European clubs.”
Regarding the criticism faced by Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan after taking charge of the national team, El-Saghir said: “We faced a lot of attacks because of the twins’ success with every team they’ve coached. Those who criticize us aren’t patriotic. Our main goal has always been to make the Egyptian people happy.”
He concluded: “We’re focused on hard work and results. Inshallah, the national team will live up to the fans’ expectations.”
