Salah drops a bombshell: I thought staying at Liverpool was impossible… and Liverpool fans have wronged Arnold.
Salah supports Arnold and expresses his ambition to continue with Liverpool and achieve championships.
The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s forward, spoke about the reaction of the club’s fans towards his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold following the announcement of his departure from the Reds at the end of the current season after his contract expired and his refusal to renew it.
Salah defends Arnold
During an interview with Gary Neville on Sky Sports, Salah said:
“I was disappointed by the reaction of Liverpool fans towards Arnold. This is not how Liverpool fans behave. Arnold is a great player and deserved a better farewell. He has given so much to the club and the city.”
He added, “The fans were unnecessarily harsh on him, and he deserves respect and appreciation for what he has contributed over the years.”
A special message for De Bruyne
Salah praised his compatriot Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City star, saying:
“I congratulate him on his wonderful career at City. He’s a unique phenomenon, and I wish him success in the future.”
When asked about the possibility of De Bruyne joining Liverpool, Salah joked:
“We have a spot open for him if he decides to join.”
A surprise about Salah’s future at Liverpool
Salah revealed his earlier doubts about staying with the Reds:
“Before renewing my contract, I thought my chances of staying were only 10%.”
Nevertheless, the Egyptian star confirmed his determination to achieve more successes with Liverpool, saying:
“I look forward to winning the Premier League and the Champions League next season.”
His favorite stadium besides Anfield
Salah concluded his statements with a surprise, choosing Old Trafford, Manchester United’s stadium, as the best stadium he has played at besides his favorite Anfield.
This statement reflects the challenges Salah faces in his professional career and his ongoing desire to succeed with his beloved club, despite difficult times some players like Arnold are going through.
