A sudden shift occurred within Zamalek after Moroccan defender Salah Mosdaq terminated his contract due to delayed financial dues, a move that disrupted the technical staff’s plans and reshaped the defensive hierarchy. According to club sources, the initial intention was to rely on Mahmoud El-Wensh and Mohamed Ismail as the main defensive duo, with Mosdaq as the first substitute, while preparing to sideline Hossam Abdel-Meguid to pressure him into renewing his contract.
However, Mosdaq’s unexpected departure, coupled with Ismail’s injury, created a defensive crisis that forced the coaching staff to keep Abdel-Meguid in the starting lineup due to the scarcity of available options.
