Sports broadcaster Ahmed Hassan revealed on his official Facebook page new developments regarding Zamalek SC’s football team. He stated that the players underwent detailed physical assessments today in preparation for the start of preseason training for the new season. This comes as part of the coaching staff’s plan to evaluate the players’ physical readiness and define future training needs.
In a separate context, Wael El-Qabbani, former football director at Zamalek, recounted a notable disciplinary incident during his tenure with the first team. He mentioned that he imposed penalties on two players for failing to follow instructions during an official match.
Speaking during a phone-in on the TV show “El Captain”, hosted by Ahmed Hassan on DMC channel, El-Qabbani said he noticed two players using their mobile phones while sitting on the bench during an official match, which he considered a breach of focus and discipline.
He explained that the incident took place during halftime. After the players were substituted and returned to the bench, they resumed using their phones despite a warning from the team’s administrative manager. One of the players insisted on using his phone and responded somewhat disrespectfully, which led to a harsher penalty than the one given to his teammate, who complied immediately after the warning.
El-Qabbani stressed that the issue was handled firmly but discreetly, without creating unnecessary noise or seeking publicity. He added that his success during his time at Zamalek was due to keeping internal matters confidential and away from the media, despite not having signed an official contract with the club. He emphasized that his efforts were driven solely by his love for the club.
He also directed a message to Zamalek fans, urging them to be patient and trust that positive change is on the way, assuring them that what is happening now will bear fruit in the near future.
