The news of Emam Ashour’s injury, the Al Ahly midfield star, deeply worried fans after initial hospital tests in Miami confirmed a collarbone fracture following his team’s opening match against Inter Miami in the Club World Cup. The injury is expected to sideline the player for around eight weeks — a critical period as Al Ahly prepares for the remaining matches of the tournament.

In the latest photos, Ashour appeared wearing a medical sling to support his shoulder, showing clear signs of gloom and disappointment after the incident, which resulted from a strong collision with an opposing defender. Al Ahly fans took to social media to send heartfelt wishes for his recovery, emphasizing his vital role in midfield and the tactical experience they sorely missed during the match.
In an official statement, the team’s doctor, Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, explained that the fracture is minor and does not require surgical intervention. However, it will still need about two months of rest and rehabilitation. He added:

“We will begin physiotherapy as soon as the sling is removed, with a gradual program to strengthen the shoulder’s surrounding muscles and restore full range of motion before considering his return to team training.”

From a technical standpoint, Ashour’s absence poses a challenge for head coach José Ribeiro, who relied heavily on the midfielder’s ability to connect the lines and distribute play across the field. This comes just days before Al Ahly's second-round match against Brazilian side Palmeiras, scheduled for next Thursday. The team is eager to recover from their opening goalless draw and strengthen their chances of advancing to the next stage.

Despite the setback, the club hopes this injury opens the door for new players to rise to the occasion — much like other major clubs have done in similar circumstances by building greater squad depth. In any case, Emam Ashour’s recovery will remain a central concern for Al Ahly’s medical staff and fans alike in the coming weeks.
