Sherif Ekramy Fires Back After Appeal Decision: "The Scene Is Clear and Cosmetic Fixes Don’t Work"
Sherif Ekramy, the goalkeeper of Pyramids FC, strongly criticized the decision of the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee regarding the postponed Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek, which was not played due to Al Ahly’s absence.
Appeals Committee Supports Al Ahly’s Position
The Appeals Committee officially upheld the decision of the Professional Clubs Association not to deduct three points from Al Ahly at the end of the season, despite their withdrawal from the match, sparking widespread controversy in the sports community.
Ekramy Harshly Criticizes the Decision
Ekramy commented on his account on X (formerly Twitter):
“A decision that doesn’t need an expert to expose its flaws, nor does the regulation require a specialist to clarify its loopholes. The scene is clear, and cosmetic fixes no longer work.” He emphasized that the lack of transparency and clarity has become a prevailing feature.
A Culture of Manipulation Has Become a Reality
The Pyramids goalkeeper pointed out that “the shaking of regulations and tailoring decisions to suit certain parties has become part of the system’s culture, and one of the reasons for its deterioration.” He called for establishing the independence of decisions to achieve fairness within the sports community.
Criticism of Those Who Justify Injustice
Ekramy added: “Amid confusion, a dangerous type of people emerge who accept injustice if it benefits them, and seek excuses to erase their guilt. This reveals the clear contradiction between values and stances, but justification does not cancel the truth — it exposes it.”
Warning Against Smearing Dissenting Voices
He continued: “As usual, the debate will shift from discussing the decision itself to exchanging accusations and smearing every differing voice, as if the problem lies with the critics, not the flawed decision.” He stressed that football, like life, reveals people’s true values in times of crisis.
Respect for Conscience Before Allegiance
Sherif Ekramy concluded his strong message by saying:
“In the end, my full respect goes to everyone who chose their conscience before their allegiance, because the truth is no longer unsaid because people forgot it, but because they became afraid to pay its price.”
