Mahmoud Abdel-Razek Shikabala, former star of Zamalek and the Egyptian national team, lashed out at Egypt’s local national team officials following the 1-1 draw with Kuwait in the opening match of Group C at the Arab Cup 2025 at Lusail Stadium.
In a televised statement, Shikabala said: “We made things very hard for ourselves, it was very easy to win, and we talked a lot about set pieces.” He added: “We watched all the matches and studied Kuwait, imagine Egypt doesn’t even have a performance analyst and they didn’t watch Kuwait’s games, I really don’t understand this.”
Shikabala also criticized the team’s finishing and the mishandling of scoring chances, pointing out that the draw resulted from several organizational and administrative mistakes. He urged improvements in match analysis and preparation ahead of the second match against UAE to secure points and start the tournament strongly.
