Former Al Ahly and Egypt national team goalkeeper and current media personality Ahmed Shobeir has expressed immense pride in what Egyptian star Mohamed Salah continues to achieve with Liverpool, following his recent crowning as the Premier League’s Best Player by the official Premier League supporters’ association.
Salah Sweeps Individual Awards This Season
Speaking on his radio show Sunday morning, Shobeir noted that Salah continues to break records and earn remarkable individual accolades. Just days ago, he won the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year award in England, and now adds the Premier League Fans’ Player of the Season to his list—cementing his legacy as one of football’s global legends.
A Statue for Salah? Shobeir Says Yes
Shobeir had strong praise for the Egyptian icon:
“Mohamed Salah is doing real miracles. Egypt has never had a sports ambassador like him. He doesn’t just deserve an award—he deserves a statue!”
He added: “Sadly, we don’t give him the recognition he truly deserves. What he’s done for Egypt and the Arab world is beyond description. He deserves the highest official and popular honors.”
Golden Boot Slips Away as Mbappé Shines
Shobeir concluded by commenting on the European Golden Boot race:
“Unfortunately, Salah was close, but Mbappé scored twice against Real Madrid, which made it much harder for him and put the title out of reach.”
