Ahmed Shobeir reveals Al Ahly’s expected lineup against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup.
In a Thursday morning radio broadcast, sports presenter Ahmed Shobeir revealed Al Ahly’s expected lineup for their second Club World Cup group stage match against Brazilian side Palmeiras. He noted that the formation will closely resemble the one used against Inter Miami, with only a few changes due to injuries.
Shobeir confirmed that Ahmed Nabil "Koka" and Imam Ashour will miss the match due to injuries. Mostafa El-Ash or Karim El-Dibis is expected to fill in for Koka, while Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" will likely replace Ashour. Tactical adjustments are also possible depending on the squad’s final shape.
🟥 Expected Lineup According to Shobeir:
Goalkeeper: Mohamed El Shenawy
Defense: Mohamed Hany – Yasser Ibrahim – Achraf Dari – (Mostafa El-Ash or Karim El-Dibis)
Midfield: Hamdi Fathi – Marwan Attia – Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane
Attack: Ahmed Sayed "Zizo" – Wissam Abou Ali – Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet"
Shobeir added that Al Ahly’s first substitution against Inter Miami was offensively oriented, with Achraf Bencharki expected to be the first change against Palmeiras. He noted that Ribeiro gave Zizo tactical freedom in the last match, but he expects Zizo to start on the right wing this time.
🟨 Injury Updates:
Imam Ashour, considered one of Egypt’s top players over the last two seasons, is confirmed out.
Ahmed Nabil Koka requires medical imaging for his injury.
Taher Mohamed Taher suffered a quadriceps injury during training, increasing the total number of absentees to three.
Shobeir concluded that the choice between El-Dibis and El-Ash for the left-back position will depend on the match dynamics. If it's an open, attacking game, El-Dibis might get the nod; for a more defensive approach, El-Ash would be preferred. He also highlighted Palmeiras’ strength on the wings and their speed, which pose a different challenge compared to Al Ahly’s previous opponent, FC Porto
