Shobeir Criticizes Zamalek After Draw with Al Mokawloon: “The Team Was Completely Absent”
Sports media personality Ahmed Shobeir expressed his strong dissatisfaction with Zamalek’s performance following their goalless draw against Al Mokawloon Al Arab. The match was held at Cairo International Stadium as part of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
“No Attack, No Chances, No Team Shape”
Shobeir stated through his official social media account that Zamalek delivered one of their worst performances this season, stressing that the team lacked any attacking presence or real threat throughout the game.
He commented:
“The team didn’t offer anything worth mentioning. There was no attacking organization, no individual efforts, no shots on target, not even dangerous crosses. It felt like the players weren’t interested in winning.”
He also noted that Zamalek showed no intention of dominating the match, with long stretches of meaningless possession and a lack of discipline or cohesion on the pitch.
“The Draw Isn’t a Surprise – It’s Exactly What They Deserved”
Shobeir continued his criticism, saying that the result was not surprising at all, considering the level of performance Zamalek displayed over the 90 minutes. He added:
“Honestly, the result isn’t shocking. Zamalek didn’t do anything to deserve a win. Fans might be upset, but if they really watched the match closely, they’d understand that a draw was a fair outcome.”
He also addressed criticism from some fans who object to his straightforward analysis:
“What’s strange is that even Zamalek fans themselves admitted the team didn’t perform well, but when we as media say the same thing, they get upset! I swear I couldn’t even tell what color Al Mokawloon goalkeeper Mahmoud Abou El-Saoud’s jersey was — that’s how little action he saw.”
