Shobeir Opens Fire on Club Debts, Threatens to Reveal Names
Sports presenter Ahmed Shobeir stirred controversy on social media after raising a bold question regarding debts owed by Egyptian football clubs to Cairo International Stadium.
Shobeir wrote on his official Facebook page:
"I have a question and I want an answer... Which clubs owe debts to Cairo Stadium and haven’t paid for two years? I’ll wait until tomorrow. If I don’t get a response, I’ll reveal the names and exact figures."
His post sparked wide interaction, especially as it hinted at prominent clubs neglecting their financial obligations. The situation raises concerns about the relationship between clubs and official institutions, and it may escalate if Shobeir decides to disclose the full details.
Expected Lineup Changes for Al Ahly Against Pharco
On a different note, Shobeir discussed expected changes in Al Ahly’s squad ahead of their upcoming match against Pharco in the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
He confirmed that coach Jose Ribeiro is likely to make at least two changes to the starting lineup, with the first being the absence of Ahmed Reda due to injury.
Shobeir said:
"There will likely be changes, and the first confirmed one is Ahmed Reda’s absence after suffering a muscle strain, so he’s ruled out of the Pharco match."
Dieng Likely to Replace Ahmed Reda
Shobeir pointed out that Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng is the top candidate to replace Reda in midfield, stating his opinion:
"In my view, Dieng is one of Al Ahly’s most important players. His presence adds great value to the team, but in the end, it’s up to the coaching staff."
Afsha Might Be Rested
Shobeir also discussed the situation of Mohamed Magdy “Afsha”, suggesting he might be rested in the next game after what he described as an unlucky performance against Modern Sport.
He added:
"Afsha wasn’t at his best last match, so it’s possible we’ll see a second change in midfield with him being rested."
Goalkeeper Position Still Unclear
Regarding the goalkeeper position, Shobeir noted that it’s still uncertain who will start against Pharco, saying:
"Until the last moment before the Modern Sport match, no one knew who the starting keeper would be. Will it be Mostafa Shobeir again? Or will El Shenawy return? Only the coaching staff knows."
