The Spanish Football Federation has officially suspended Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin for one match following his post-game altercation with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal in El Clásico.
🔥 The Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee has handed Andriy Lunin a one-match suspension after his altercation with Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal following Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory in El Clásico last Sunday.
Tensions flared after the final whistle when Lunin clashed with Yamal, earning a red card after the match. The confrontation also involved Vinícius Jr., Thibaut Courtois, and Dani Carvajal.
The incident stemmed from comments made by Yamal two days before the match, accusing Real Madrid of “cheating and stealing,” which angered the Madrid players and fueled the post-match scuffle.
In its official statement, the disciplinary committee cited the violation as a “serious act,” which typically carries a suspension of four to ten matches or a fine ranging between €602 and €3006. However, after reviewing the case, the committee reduced the punishment to a one-match ban.
Real Madrid had filed an appeal to overturn the decision to keep Lunin available for the upcoming match against Valencia, but the appeal was rejected. As a result, Lunin will miss the November 1 clash in La Liga’s eleventh round.
