The participating teams are:

Egyptian Al Ahly “hosts” – Spanish Barcelona “defending champions” – Kuwaiti Burqan “representing Asia” – Moroccan Mountada Derb Sultan “representing Africa” – German Füchse Berlin “representing Europe” – Brazilian Pinheiros “representing South and Central America” – American Los Angeles “representing North America and the Caribbean” – Australian Sydney “representing Oceania” – Hungarian Veszprém “wild card” – Egyptian Zamalek “wild card”.

United Sports also announced the tournament’s official logo, continuing the success achieved by the previous two editions. The event will carry the slogan:

Amr Salah Named Head of Organizing Committee

As part of the preparations for the global event, the organizing committee announced the appointment of Amr Salah as president of the tournament’s organizing committee.

The committee also appointed Yasser El-Ramly as tournament director as part of the administrative structure overseeing the event and its preparations.

Al Ahly in Group B

The draw for the 2026 Men’s Handball Club World Championship placed Al Ahly in Group B, with the Egyptian champions qualifying directly for the group stage as representatives of the host nation.

Al Ahly will begin its campaign on September 25 against the winner of the match between Hungarian Veszprém and Sydney University of Australia. The Egyptian side will then face Kuwaiti club Burqan on September 27, before taking on German side Füchse Berlin on September 29.

Group B consists of:

Füchse Berlin – Al Ahly – Burqan – the winner of Veszprém vs Sydney University.

Zamalek Begin in the Preliminary Round

Zamalek, meanwhile, will begin the tournament in the preliminary round, where they face Los Angeles of the United States on September 24, with the winner advancing to the group stage.

Group A consists of:

Barcelona – Mountada Derb Sultan – Pinheiros – the winner of Zamalek vs Los Angeles.

The preliminary round features two matches, with Zamalek taking on Los Angeles while Veszprém face Sydney University. The two winners will advance to the group stage.

However, the tournament will not end for the teams that lose in the preliminary round, as they will continue to compete in matches determining ninth and 10th place.

Knockout System and Position Matches

Following the group stage, the tournament will move into knockout matches to determine the final positions.

The two group winners will meet in the championship match to determine the Men’s Handball Club World Championship winner, while the two runners-up will compete for the bronze medal.

The third-placed teams from both groups will face each other for fifth and sixth place, while the fourth-placed teams will contest the seventh and eighth positions.

This system ensures competitive matches continue until the final stages, with every participating club having the opportunity to determine its final ranking in the global competition.

ON Sport to Broadcast the Tournament Exclusively

United Sports announced that all matches of the Men’s Handball Club World Championship will be broadcast exclusively on the ON Sport network and the ON Sport application, allowing fans to follow the tournament and the campaigns of both Egyptian and international clubs.

United Sports is organizing the event in partnership with the International Handball Federation and the Egyptian Handball Federation, with extensive preparations underway to host one of the major international club competitions on Egyptian soil.

With the 19th edition approaching, attention will turn to the New Capital as 10 clubs from different continents compete in a tournament that Egypt is preparing to stage on a scale matching the record participation and international attention surrounding the event. 🇪🇬🏆
