Thorup Makes a New Decision on Al Ahly Goalkeepers

Former Egypt international Ahmed Hassan has revealed new details regarding Al Ahly’s goalkeeping situation, sharing comments made by head coach Jess Thorup about Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir.
According to Hassan, Thorup confirmed that an agreement has been reached with both goalkeepers to rotate in the position, followed by a continuous evaluation of their performances.
The coach praised both El Shenawy and Shobeir for delivering strong displays, giving the technical staff greater flexibility in selecting the most suitable goalkeeper for each match based on form and readiness.
This approach aims to maintain squad balance and ensure consistency, while benefiting from the quality and experience of both goalkeepers.
On the domestic front, Al Ahly secured a 3-1 victory over Wadi Degla at Cairo International Stadium in the 16th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly currently sit third in the league standings with 23 points from 12 matches, while Wadi Degla are fourth with the same number of points from 14 matches.
