Three Premier League Clubs Face Transfer Ban Over Unpaid Debts

Ismaily, Zamalek, and Pharco are at risk of being banned from registering new players during the current summer transfer window due to outstanding financial debts owed to players or the Egyptian Football Association.

EFA Requires Debt Clearance Before Allowing Transfers

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has made it clear that these clubs must settle all overdue payments before the transfer window closes in order to be allowed to register new signings. This condition aligns with CAF regulations and the requirements for professional club licensing, which prohibit clubs with outstanding debts from participating in transfers.

Countdown to New Season Begins

Only 8 days remain until the start of the new 2025–2026 Egyptian Premier League season, scheduled to kick off on August 8. This upcoming season will feature several major changes, including an increased number of participating teams after relegation was canceled last season, along with the introduction of a new disciplinary code aimed at curbing misconduct on and off the pitch.

Cairo Derby Date Confirmed

All eyes will be on the highly anticipated Cairo Derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek, which is scheduled for Monday, September 29, at 8:00 PM (Cairo time) at Cairo International Stadium — one of the season’s most awaited fixtures.

Busy Summer Transfer Window for Ahly and Zamalek

Both clubs have been very active in the transfer market. Al Ahly has signed nine new players: Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Aliou Dieng, Mohamed Ahmed Siha, Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, Mohamed Sherif, Yassin Marei, and Mohamed Shoukry.

Zamalek, on the other hand, has completed seven signings so far: goalkeeper El Mahdy Soliman, Moroccan Abdelhamid Maali, Angolan striker Chico Banza, forwards Ahmed Sherif and Amr Nasser, Palestinian talent Adam Kaid, and Ahmed Rabie. Fans are still waiting for more reinforcements to be announced.

Ahly Crowned League Champions for Third Straight Season

Al Ahly secured the Egyptian Premier League title for the third consecutive season — the 45th in the club’s history — finishing at the top of the table with 58 points, just two points ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC (56 points).

Zamalek Finish Third, Qualify for Confederation Cup

Zamalek concluded last season in third place with 47 points, five points ahead of Al Masry in fourth (42 points). Both teams have secured qualification to the upcoming edition of the CAF Confederation Cup, aiming to restore their continental glory.
