Tough Challenges for Egypt’s Wushu Team at the World Championship in Brazil
Egypt participates in the World Wushu Kung Fu Championship in Brazil with 10 players in sanda and taolu events.
The national Wushu Kung Fu team is intensifying its preparations to participate in the 17th World Senior Championship, taking place in Brazil from now until September 8, 2025.
Tough Matchups in the Tournament Draw
The tournament draw has presented challenging matchups for several Egyptian athletes.
Ali Nasser will begin his campaign in the 48 kg category facing the champion of China, followed by a match against the champion of Yemen.
Mohamed Khaled, competing in the 60 kg category, will face a Vietnamese player in the Round of 16, while Saif Mohsen, in the 70 kg category, will start from the Round of 32 against the winner of the match between Taipei and the Czech Republic.
In the 85 kg category, Al-Hussein Wahdan will start from the Round of 16, aiming to face the winner of that stage, and if he advances, he will meet the Russian champion in the quarterfinals.
In the open weight category, Ahmed Shalaby will begin his participation from the quarterfinals, where he will face the winner between Turkmenistan and Argentina, with the victor moving on to the semifinals.
Women’s Competition in Advanced Stages
In the women’s events, the Egyptian team will compete directly from the quarterfinals in three categories:
Yasmin Selim (48 kg) will face a Vietnamese athlete.
Menna Mohamed Hassan (70 kg) will compete against a Russian opponent.
Aya Salah (75 kg) will meet an Iranian athlete in a strong matchup.
