Various media reports today revealed new details about the tragic accident that claimed the life of Diogo Jota, Liverpool and Portugal star, who died early this morning in a devastating car crash in Spain.

Video footage from CNN Brazil showed the initial moments of the fire breaking out in the car carrying Jota and his younger brother in the province of Zamora, located in northwest Spain. The video clearly shows the large fire that erupted after the vehicle suddenly veered off the road.

Spanish authorities announced in an official statement that the car, a Lamborghini driven by Jota, lost control after one of its tires exploded, causing it to leave the road and catch fire completely. The accident occurred in the municipality of Cernadilla around 2:30 AM and resulted in the immediate death of Jota and his brother.
The Spanish police confirmed that emergency teams’ efforts to save the occupants were unsuccessful due to the sudden and intense blaze. Nearby residents immediately called for ambulance and police assistance, but the accident was fatal, and no timely intervention was possible.

Liverpool Football Club issued an official statement mourning the young player, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of one of their key players. The club confirmed that Jota died in a tragic car accident alongside his brother André and extended their condolences to the family, friends, and all affected by this devastating loss.
