In a new development concerning transfer activity within Al Ahly SC, sports presenter Seif Zaher revealed during his show “On Stadium” on ON Time Sports channel that Palestinian striker Wissam Abu Ali has officially sent a message to Captain Mahmoud El Khatib, President of Al Ahly, requesting approval to transfer to Qatari side Al Sadd during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Zaher explained that the player expressed in his message a strong desire to embark on a new professional journey in the Qatari league. He also emphasized his deep appreciation for Al Ahly and its fans but noted that the financial offer from Al Sadd represents a significant opportunity for him both professionally and personally at this stage of his career.
According to the report, the initial offer from Al Sadd reached $9 million. However, Al Ahly’s management is insisting on a minimum of $10 million, in addition to $2–3 million in performance-based bonuses tied to Abu Ali’s appearances and contributions.
Al Ahly’s transfer committee is aiming to maximize financial gains from the deal, especially considering Wissam Abu Ali’s impressive performance since joining the club. He recently stood out at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, scoring a hat-trick against FC Porto, drawing regional and international attention.
Although Al Ahly exited the tournament in the group stage with only two points, Abu Ali’s standout individual performance reignited interest in him as one of the top forwards in the region, prompting several clubs to express interest in acquiring his services.
Given the potential departure, reports suggest Al Ahly has already begun evaluating strong attacking alternatives. Topping the list is Mostafa Mohamed, currently playing for French club Nantes and formerly of Zamalek. He is seen as a strategic target, given his international experience and ability to make a decisive impact in both local and continental competitions.
The coming days are expected to witness decisive moves within Al Ahly as the club determines Abu Ali’s future—whether through a renewed contract under new terms or by accepting the Qatari offer should it be adjusted to meet the club’s financial expectations.
