Wisam Abu Ali Sparks Controversy… Khaled El-Ghandour Fiercely Attacks Shobeir and El-Menissy
Khaled El-Ghandour criticizes the media's handling of the Wissam Abu Ali deal, describing the attacks against him as proof of his honesty.
In a widely discussed statement, media figure Khaled El-Ghandour broke his silence to address what he described as a “coordinated attack” following his criticism of the ambiguity surrounding Wissam Abu Ali’s transfer from Al Ahly to Columbus Crew—hailed as the most expensive deal in Egyptian league history.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page, El-Ghandour stated, “Some people messaged me saying that Captain Ahmed Shobeir talked about me, as well as Ibrahim El-Menisy and Mohamed Fares—all just because I said Al Ahly should clarify its position on Wissam’s sale. Especially since the player’s behavior was unusual—he packed his belongings and refused to join the training camp!”
Direct Accusations and Deflection
El-Ghandour didn’t stop at highlighting the lack of clarity; he accused some media figures of shifting the narrative: “Instead of responding to my comments, suddenly the discussion turned to Zamalek’s debts—as if the goal was to deflect from the real question: What actually happened with Wissam’s transfer?”
Unjustified Attacks from Al Ahly Platforms
He continued, expressing that he faced severe backlash from individuals affiliated with Al Ahly TV and online fan pages: “Whenever I share my opinion, I face intense attacks from people who dislike what I say. When the backlash comes from all directions, that means you struck a nerve.”
“I Didn’t Commit a Crime!”
El-Ghandour expressed his astonishment at the outrage, asking, “What did I say? Did I commit a crime? Where’s the offense? It’s just an opinion based on facts. But when people get this emotional, it’s a strong sign something is wrong—and that some people can’t handle the truth.”
A Call for Transparency
Despite the uproar, he stressed that transparency is his primary concern, arguing that fans deserve clarity—especially with a high-profile player and a record-breaking deal involved. He concluded: “I’m speaking the truth. If the truth bothers you, then that’s your problem—not mine.”
