In a surprising move, Zamalek Club has officially withdrawn from the Arab Women’s Volleyball Championship, which was scheduled to take place this month in Tunisia 🇹🇳. The club notified the Egyptian Volleyball Federation, which in turn informed the Arab Federation about Zamalek’s official withdrawal.
According to club sources, the decision came after internal discussions revealed the ongoing financial difficulties facing the club 💸. These challenges have also forced Zamalek to withdraw from previous continental competitions, including the African Men’s Handball Championship.
The championship draw placed the participating clubs into two competitive groups:
Group One includes CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), Salwa Al-Sabah (Kuwait), Carthage Women’s Club (Tunisia), and Al-Ruwad (Syria).
Group Two included Zamalek (Egypt), Nassiria Bejaia Youth (Algeria), Al-Oyoun Girls (Kuwait), and Club Africain (Tunisia).
Despite the withdrawal, Zamalek’s women’s volleyball team continues to prepare for a strong domestic season, especially after qualifying for the Women’s Club World Championship for the second time 🏆, following their victory over Al Ahly in last season’s African Championship final.
The new 2025–2026 Egyptian Women’s Volleyball League draw placed Al Ahly in Group One alongside Al Mokawloon, Al Gezira, and Al Oboor, while Zamalek was drawn in Group Two with Delphi, Al Zohour, and Raya — setting the stage for another intense season 🔥.
