Zamalek on the Verge of a Major Deal: Angolan Star Chico Banza Close to Wearing the White Jersey
Chico Banza is 90% close to joining Zamalek as part of the club’s offensive reinforcements for the new season.
A source within Zamalek SC has revealed that the club is close to finalizing the signing of Angolan winger Chico Banza, who currently plays for Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora. The move comes as part of the club’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its attacking line with quality reinforcements during the current summer transfer window.
According to the source, negotiations between both parties have reached an advanced stage, with the deal nearly finalized—around 90% complete—especially as the player has shown a strong desire to wear the Zamalek jersey. Moreover, Estrela’s management has demonstrated flexibility during talks.
Banza, 26, impressed during the past season in the Portuguese league, prompting Zamalek officials to monitor his performance closely before initiating formal talks. The team is in need of a fast, skillful attacker who can penetrate defenses and score goals.
The player is under contract with Estrela until the summer of 2027, which led Zamalek to begin direct negotiations with the club to obtain an official release, with a suitable financial offer expected to convince the Portuguese side.
This move aligns with the technical committee and head coach’s plans to bolster the squad with strong attacking options for both domestic and continental competitions. It follows the club’s recent success in signing Ahmed Sherif, the former Pharco striker, who officially joined Zamalek.
Zamalek hopes to complete the Banza deal in the coming days so he can join the team’s preseason training. The Angolan winger is considered one of the most promising talents in his position and brings valuable European experience that could significantly enhance Zamalek’s offensive capabilities.
