Maher Gharib, Zamalek’s media department director, revealed the latest developments in the case involving Moroccan player Ahmed Belhaj and the Cairo club, explaining the club’s position regarding the ruling and the legal steps taken during the past hours.
Gharib explained that the full reasoning behind the ruling reached Zamalek around 16 days ago, after which the club moved to take the necessary legal measures to challenge the decision by paying the appeal fees and formally demonstrating its intention to pursue the case.
Zamalek Pays Appeal Fees
Speaking during an intervention with sports presenter Hany Hattout, Maher Gharib said Zamalek paid the appeal fees yesterday, paving the way for the next legal steps and the submission of the formal appeal against the ruling.
He explained that the appeal gives Zamalek an opportunity to seek a reduction of the imposed punishment or potentially have it completely overturned if the appeal is accepted by the relevant authority.
The club’s media director added that taking this legal step allows Zamalek to avoid the implementation of the disciplinary registration ban linked to the case for the time being, pending the final decision on the appeal.
Details of the $600,000 Verdict
Maher Gharib also discussed the $600,000 figure involved in the ruling, explaining that the case concerns financial dues owed to Moroccan player Ahmed Belhaj by Zamalek after the player terminated his contract unilaterally.
Gharib said: “We have a ruling in this matter. When the player terminated the contract unilaterally, he became entitled to financial dues from Zamalek. Now that we have paid the appeal fees, we will submit the appeal and wait to see what the final decision will be.”
He explained that the club must now complete the remaining legal procedures related to the appeal, including submitting its arguments and documents before waiting for the outcome of the next stage.
Zamalek Await the Final Decision
The Zamalek media director stressed that it is currently impossible to determine exactly what decision the relevant authority will issue regarding the appeal, as several possible outcomes remain open depending on the legal proceedings.
