Zamalek shocks the Clubs Association by boycotting the meeting due to the absence of fairness and transparency.
Zamalek decides to boycott the Clubs Association meeting in protest against unfair decisions.
The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club, headed by Captain Hussein Labib, decided to boycott the meeting scheduled for today, Sunday, organized by the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association to discuss plans for the upcoming Premier League season. This decision comes as a protest by the club against the way the competition has been managed this season, which the club described as lacking fairness, integrity, and transparency—especially following what it called the "unjust" decision issued by the Association’s board regarding the sanctions for the recent Cairo Derby match, which witnessed Al Ahly’s withdrawal on March 11.
Zamalek confirmed that the boycott represents a firm rejection of the Association’s decisions, which have stirred controversy and anger within the sports community due to clear favoritism towards one party at the expense of the other competitors. The club explained that this decision reflects its commitment to principles of justice and fairness, calling for a reconsideration of how the competition is managed to ensure equal opportunities for all clubs. This comes amid the need for the Egyptian League to be organized with greater transparency and to maintain its credibility in front of fans and participants alike. Zamalek also emphasized that this stance came after exhausting all other protest measures, stressing that the club will remain vigilant in protecting its rights and interests in all official forums.
