About His Life
Ashraf Zaki held the position of Head of the Actors Syndicate at different times, resigning during the 25th of January Revolution 🇪🇬 after his name was linked to organizing a pro-President Hosni Mubarak demonstration. In February 2011, he was appointed as head of the Cinema Authority, succeeding Mamdouh El Leithy 🎥, but resigned after a few days due to protests demanding his departure.
He sparked major controversy during his tenure as the head of the syndicate when he decided to limit the number of works foreign actors could participate in within Egypt's television and film industries 🎭.
