Karem Mahmoud was born in Damanhur, in the Beheira Governorate, and began his artistic journey at the Cairo Conservatory, where he studied under renowned instructors such as Mohamed Hassan El-Shigai and Mostafa Bek Reda. He graduated in 1944 and started his career with the Golden Melodies Troupe, which helped him launch into Egyptian radio, becoming a distinct voice in many operettas and famous radio shows.
