Born into a middle-class family to a furniture merchant father, she is the middle of three sisters. She started her artistic career at the National Theater. Discovered by director Kamal El Sheikh, she was cast in her first film Ala Man Notleq Al Rasas alongside Soad Hosny. Her first leading television role was in Hekayet Mezo, after which she became a staple in Egyptian drama, known for her socially and politically charged roles.
