A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Silivri region north of Istanbul at 12:49 local time, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). The earthquake occurred in the Sea of Marmara near Silivri and was felt in Istanbul as well as in some nearby cities. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya indicated that all teams from AFAD, along with other relevant teams, immediately headed to the affected areas to begin inspection and assistance operations.

In his statements, the minister said, "I wish safety to all our citizens affected by the earthquake, and I pray to God to protect our country and nation from disasters." AFAD also urged citizens not to enter damaged buildings or stay near them due to the risk of collapse from aftershocks, stressing the need to use text messages or social media instead of phone calls to avoid overloading networks.

The main earthquake was followed by several aftershocks. AFAD announced a second aftershock with a magnitude of 4.4 at 12:51 off the coast of Büyükçekmece north of Istanbul, followed by a third aftershock with a magnitude of 4.9 at 13:02. The aftershocks heightened the tension, raising concern among residents in the affected areas.

Specialized teams immediately began field surveys to assess the impact of the earthquake and provide necessary support to the affected citizens. Relief teams were sent to the affected areas to assist people in reassessing the situation and providing immediate care to the injured. Turkish authorities confirmed that all emergency measures had been taken to ensure citizens' safety. At the same time, the situation is being closely monitored to track any changes that may occur.

In response to the disaster, AFAD issued warnings to citizens to avoid approaching damaged buildings until their stability is verified, and emphasized the importance of following security guidelines. They also stressed the need to stay away from public and crowded places due to the risk of further damage from aftershocks.

Citizens in Istanbul and surrounding cities experienced chaos after the earthquake, with many taking to the streets in fear of further tremors. These aftershocks caused some property damage, as some buildings and infrastructure were affected, but no significant injuries or fatalities have been officially reported so far.

Government agencies have continued to provide new instructions to the public, with emergency messages being posted on social media to guide citizens to temporary shelters and available relief mechanisms. In this regard, many residents of Istanbul have expressed their readiness to assist affected families by distributing emergency supplies such as food and water.

Additionally, shelters have been set up in some of the most affected areas, such as Silivri and its surrounding regions, to provide safe places for citizens who lost their homes or could not return due to the damage. Rescue teams continue to search for anyone who might be trapped under the rubble, while local authorities intensify efforts to assess the impact of the earthquake on the region's infrastructure.

Turkish authorities have also issued notifications on all local and international media, urging citizens to remain alert and follow the instructions issued by the relevant government authorities. Meanwhile, the national emergency plan has been activated to ensure a rapid response to any additional developments that may arise from the earthquake or aftershocks.

On the international front, many Arab and foreign countries have expressed their readiness to offer assistance should the situation require it, with many officials around the world expressing solidarity with Turkey in the face of this natural disaster.
