In a tragic incident that took place in the industrial zone in October, a massive fire broke out at a plastic factory located on Hamada Street in the October area. This required the intervention of the Civil Protection forces to control the fire, which spread to a warehouse containing wooden bales over an area of approximately 400 square meters. Security and firefighting teams were mobilized in an attempt to minimize the damage caused by the fire, which was threatening to spread to neighboring buildings.

Initial details about the incident indicate that the burning factory is three stories high and covers an area of about 500 square meters, containing large quantities of plastic materials and raw materials used in manufacturing processes. The fire broke out on the ground floor of the factory and then spread to the adjacent wooden warehouse, making it difficult for firefighting teams to quickly control the blaze.

Major General Samah Al-Hamili, the Director of Giza Security, later visited the fire site to monitor the progress of the operations and assist in coordinating between the firefighting teams and the police to control the fire. According to available information, the Civil Protection teams used three large water tanks and an advanced hydraulic ladder to pump water onto the flames and prevent them from spreading to other parts of the factory. A specialized team of technicians was also called in to inspect the electrical installations and firefighting equipment used in controlling the fire.

The fire did not result in any injuries or fatalities, as efforts were focused primarily on evacuating the surrounding area and ensuring the safety of employees and workers in the facility. A security cordon was set up around the fire scene to prevent unauthorized individuals from approaching, while firefighting teams worked to avoid potential explosions due to the flammable materials present in the factory.

Witnesses reported that the fire broke out suddenly while some workers were inside the factory, but fortunately, all of them were evacuated before the flames escalated. One of the workers, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that the fire started from the rear part of the factory and spread rapidly due to the plastic materials present there, which are highly flammable.

In addition to the Civil Protection efforts, several ambulances were sent to the fire site as a precaution, although no injuries have been reported so far. Medical sources indicated that once the situation stabilizes, medical checks will be conducted on the workers in the factory to ensure their health and safety.

In related news, some sources confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit or a leak of flammable materials within the factory. However, investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause. A committee has been formed by the relevant authorities in the Civil Defense Department to review all safety procedures in the factories neighboring the burned factory to prevent such incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, firefighting teams continue to work on fully extinguishing the fire, and purification operations are underway in the area surrounding the factory to ensure the fire does not reignite. Some of the factory officials have already started assessing the damage to the factory and the warehouse, as well as estimating the material losses caused by the fire.

Additionally, reports indicated that the factory had undergone routine maintenance in recent weeks, raising several questions about the effectiveness of the inspections and maintenance carried out during that period. Consequently, many experts in the plastic industry and similar factories have begun to warn about the need to strengthen safety and security measures within industrial facilities.

On another note, some workers confirmed that the equipment used in extinguishing the fire was highly advanced, as the three water tanks, which were filled directly from local sources, helped to extinguish the flames in record time. The surrounding area was also equipped with hoses and necessary tools to pump water to different parts of the factory, which greatly contributed to minimizing the fire damage.

The investigation into the incident is expected to continue to determine the responsibilities related to the preventive measures taken before the fire, including a thorough inspection of the electrical systems within the factory.
