صلاة ودعاء في يوم عرفة

The Day of Arafah is one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar. It falls on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, which this year corresponds to Thursday, June 5. On this great day, Muslims turn to Allah with prayers and supplications, remembering the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) saying: “The best supplication is the supplication on the Day of Arafah.” This day holds a special status with Allah, as sins are forgiven, ranks are elevated, and Allah frees more souls from the Fire than any other day.

Is the Supplication on the Day of Arafah Accepted for Non-Pilgrims?
This question concerns many people, especially those not performing Hajj. The prevailing scholarly opinion is that the supplication on the Day of Arafah is accepted for all Muslims, whether pilgrims or not. Allah’s mercy is vast for all His servants. As narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): “There is no day on which Allah frees more servants from the Fire than the Day of Arafah...” This includes everyone who prays sincerely and devotedly on this blessed day.

Supplication for Oneself on the Day of Arafah
On this blessed day, it is essential to persist in praying for ourselves, asking Allah for the best in this world and the hereafter, and seeking steadfastness, mercy, and forgiveness. Some prayers you can repeat include:

“O Allah, I ask You for the best of requests, the best of supplications, the best of success, the best of deeds, the best of rewards, the best of life, and the best of death. Keep me firm, make my scales heavy [with good deeds], strengthen my faith, raise my rank, and accept all good.”

“O Allah, keep my heart firm upon Your religion, guide me and make good easy for me, grant me the love of Your righteous servants, forgive me, and have mercy on me with Your vast mercy.

Supplication for Family and Loved Ones on the Day of Arafah
The prayers on this day should not be limited to oneself but also include family, friends, and all Muslims, for on this day rewards multiply and the doors of mercy widen.

“O Allah, keep my family and loved ones under Your protection and care, forgive their sins, and grant them happiness and comfort in this world and the hereafter.”

“O Allah, make us among those who listen to the word and follow the best of it, and guide us to the straight path on this blessed day.”

Answered Prayers on the Day of Arafah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said the best supplication is on the Day of Arafah. Some of the most beautiful and effective prayers include:

“O Allah, subdue all Your creation for me just as You subdued the sea for Moses (peace be upon him), and soften their hearts for me just as You softened the iron for David (peace be upon him). Keep my heart firm on Your religion, O Turner of hearts.”

“O Allah, help me and do not let me face hardship alone, grant me victory and do not help against me, guide me and make guidance easy for me, and grant me sincerity in speech and deeds.”

“O Allah, Owner of vast mercy, I ask You for a flood of Your bounty, a grasp of the light of Your dominion, comfort and relief from the sea of Your generosity. Make me among those accepted by You.”

The Virtue of Supplication on the Day of Arafah
The Day of Arafah is a day of mercy and forgiveness. It is a great opportunity to change one’s state for the better, to raise ranks, and to fulfill needs. Make your supplications sincere, rely on Allah, humble yourself before Him, and seek help through His beautiful names and exalted attributes.
Sample Prayers from “Mafateeh al-Jinan”
You can include these prayers in your supplications on this day:

“There is no deity except You; glory be to You, I was indeed among the wrongdoers. Relieve my distress and help me overcome my worries.”

“O Allah, heal my brokenness, grant me patience and tranquility, and bless me with Your forgiveness and pleasure.”

“O Allah, grant me success in my life, forgive my sins, save me from all distress, and provide me gratitude for Your blessings.”

Taking advantage of this blessed day with humble, heartfelt supplication opens the doors of mercy and acceptance. Allah will grant you a share of His immense grace and mercy. Do not miss this great opportunity — pray to Allah sincerely and with faith from your heart.
