In today’s fast-paced world, even a few extra minutes of sleep can make a meaningful difference, as a recent study highlights a strong link between sleep duration and heart health.
Researchers found that adding just 11 minutes of sleep each day could reduce the risk of heart attacks by up to 10%, emphasizing the power of small, consistent lifestyle changes.
The study analyzed data from over 53,000 middle-aged individuals, tracking their sleep patterns, physical activity, and dietary habits, along with monitoring cases of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.
Beyond sleep, the findings also showed that simple lifestyle adjustments—like walking a bit more each day or increasing vegetable intake—can significantly lower the risk of heart disease.
Experts noted that combining small, sustainable changes in daily routines is often more effective and easier to maintain than drastic lifestyle overhauls, with healthier individuals showing a much lower risk of cardiovascular conditions.
The study recommends maintaining a balanced lifestyle, including 8 to 9 hours of sleep, regular physical activity, and a healthy diet, stressing that consistency is key to long-term heart health.
