Defense in “Karima Student” Case Plans to Appeal Sentences
The child court sentenced the defendants for assaulting student Karima, and the defense intends to file an appeal while precautionary measures continue for the third defendant
The defense of the defendants in the high-profile "Karima student" case announced plans to appeal the child court’s verdict, which sentenced the first defendant to one year in prison, the second to six months, and referred the third defendant to a care facility for precautionary monitoring.
The verdict was issued Wednesday by the Child Court in Amiriya following the referral from the Cairo New Cities Child Prosecution, after three girls assaulted student Karima inside a private school in the Fifth Settlement.
In parallel, Karima’s family filed a complaint against the school for alleged negligence after the initial forensic report confirmed that Karima suffered injuries and fractures, recommending a follow-up medical examination after three months to monitor her condition.
