Escalating Dispute Over “Ala Qad Al-Hob”: Legal Request to Replace Intellectual Property Expert in TV Series Case
The plaintiff’s lawyer in the case against the creators of the series “Ala Qad Al-Hob” has requested the replacement of the court-appointed expert, stressing that the dispute involves alleged literary plagiarism requiring specialized IP expertise.
The legal dispute surrounding the TV series “Ala Qad Al-Hob” continues to develop before the Cairo Economic Court, after the plaintiff’s defense submitted a formal request to change the appointed technical expert, citing the specialized nature of the allegations.
Request for a Specialized Expert
The plaintiff’s lawyer argued that the case requires an expert in intellectual property law rather than a general technical expert, due to the complex artistic and legal questions concerning similarities between the disputed works.
Allegation of Literary Infringement
The lawsuit claims that the creators of the series “Ala Qad Al-Hob” copied essential elements from a literary work owned by the plaintiff. The defense maintains that the original work was officially documented more than three years ago, establishing prior ownership.
Court-Ordered Expert Review
The court had previously referred the case to a panel of experts to conduct a detailed technical comparison between the two works and assess any similarities or potential infringement, with a comprehensive report to be submitted before a final ruling.
Parties Involved
The case is filed against the writer and the producer of the series, which aired during the Ramadan 2026 drama season, amid allegations of unauthorized use of material from the original literary work.
