On Monday, January 26, the Cairo Economic Misdemeanor Court sentenced blogger Hadeer Abdel Razek and her ex-husband Mohamed Otaka to 3 years in prison and a fine of 100,000 EGP each, following charges of publishing indecent videos.
The verdict came after a lawyer filed a complaint accusing Hadeer Abdel Razek and her ex-husband of violating Egyptian family values. The case was referred to criminal trial after authorities completed preliminary investigations and collected evidence.
