There are several established forms of remembrance that Muslims are encouraged to recite after the obligatory prayers.
These adhkar include seeking forgiveness, praising Allah, affirming His oneness, reciting Ayat al-Kursi, and reading the Mu'awwidhat.
One of the first things recited after completing the prayer is seeking forgiveness three times, followed by:
“O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.”

After completing the prayer, the worshipper says:
“Astaghfirullah” three times.

“Allahumma anta as-salam, wa minka as-salam, tabarakta ya dhal-jalali wal-ikram.”

Saying the Tahlil After Prayer
Among the established remembrances after prayer is:
“There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things. O Allah, none can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the wealth or status of a person cannot avail him against You.”
This remembrance affirms Allah's oneness, sovereignty, and absolute power.
Tasbih, Tahmid and Takbir After Prayer
A well-known form of remembrance after the obligatory prayers is:
- Subhan Allah — 33 times.
- Alhamdulillah — 33 times.
- Allahu Akbar — 33 times.
The hundred is then completed by saying:
“There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things.”
Other authentic forms of counting and combining these remembrances have also been reported, so they should not be restricted to one single formula.
Reciting Ayat al-Kursi After Prayer
Muslims are encouraged to recite Ayat al-Kursi, verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah, after the obligatory prayers.
It is among the well-known remembrances recited after prayer and can be combined with the other established adhkar.
Reciting the Mu'awwidhat After Prayer
The Mu'awwidhat refer to:
- Surah Al-Ikhlas
- Surah Al-Falaq
- Surah An-Nas
These surahs are among the remembrances reported after prayer. Some narrations indicate that they are recited three times after Fajr and Maghrib, while they are recited once after the other obligatory prayers.
What Is Said After Fajr Prayer?
A well-known supplication reported for after Fajr is:
“O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good and wholesome provision, and accepted deeds.”
It is a concise supplication asking Allah for beneficial knowledge, lawful and good provision, and righteous deeds that are accepted.
A Simple Order for Post-Prayer Adhkar
After completing the prayer, the worshipper can begin with seeking forgiveness three times, followed by the supplication acknowledging Allah as the source of peace.
