Ally Jumaa Explains 10 Secrets and Wonders of Sustenance Timing and Keys
Dr. Ali Jumaa highlights the secrets of sustenance and its keys, emphasizing that all provisions are precisely determined by Allah, with stories and supplications for seeking sustenance and easing life’s affairs.
Dr. Ali Jumaa, former Grand Mufti of Egypt and member of Al-Azhar’s senior scholars, explained that sustenance is one of the most essential human needs, and Allah has precisely determined the provisions of all creatures, as stated in the Quran: {And He has made [provisions] for it in four days alike for those who ask} [Surah Fussilat: 10].
He clarified that sustenance has many secrets, and it comes in two types:
Apparent for the body: such as food and drink.
Hidden for the heart and soul: such as knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual blessings.
Jumaa emphasized that Allah alone is the Provider, holding all keys to sustenance, ensuring provision for every creature whether obedient or disobedient, as in: {And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision} [Surah Hud: 6].
He narrated the story of the Bedouin who, upon hearing the words of Allah: {And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised}, distributed his sustenance to others, illustrating the miraculous interaction of humans with the name of Allah, the Provider.
He also shared supplications for sustenance and relief, including:
“O Remover of obstacles, O Fulfiller of needs, grant me my sustenance from unexpected sources.”
“O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision over the unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace above others.”
“O Allah, Facilitator of the difficult, remove me from narrow paths to the widest ways.”
These prayers highlight seeking Allah’s help with sincere hearts, relying on His justice and wisdom, and affirming that sustenance is solely in His hands.
