Awqaf Aid 2026: Application Dates, Eligibility and Required Documents

Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf has opened applications for several types of social assistance, with a 160 million Egyptian pound allocation and specific eligibility and documentation requirements

Dr. Osama Al-Azhary, Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf, directed the opening of applications for financial assistance through the ministry’s General Administration of Social Welfare, with an allocation of 160 million Egyptian pounds for this purpose.

The assistance covers several forms of support for people and families in need.

Applications for assistance for debtors, as well as support for students at government schools, institutes and universities, will be accepted from October 1 through October 30, 2026.

Applications must be submitted manually to the Social Welfare Departments at the relevant regional Awqaf directorates, in accordance with the applicable requirements and criteria. The ministry has previously reported substantial spending through its social welfare administration on financial assistance and interest-free loans.

Eligibility for Debtor Assistance

Debtor assistance is being provided through the Ministry of Awqaf’s General Administration of Social Welfare.

Applicants must have no previous criminal case of the relevant type, as established by their criminal record.

Priority is given to widows and divorced women without an income, as well as women with younger children.

Applicants must also not be receiving a pension and must provide a pension statement from the local Social Solidarity Directorate and an insurance printout.

Required documents include a valid national ID copy and an official copy of the court judgment, a statement from the prison authority, or a certificate from the competent court records department showing the reason and duration of imprisonment.

The debtor’s outstanding amount is paid into the relevant court treasury after an office-based and field social assessment is conducted by the regional social welfare departments.

Assistance for Government School and University Students

The assistance program also covers students enrolled in government schools, institutes and universities.

Applicants must provide a valid copy of the student’s national ID and proof of enrollment at the relevant educational institution.

The assistance is provided for each academic year according to the actual tuition and fees due for the student’s educational stage, based on documents issued by the educational institution.

The institution’s official code or bank account number must also be submitted in an officially certified paper document from the educational institution.

A social assessment is then conducted through the relevant regional social welfare departments.

Conditions for Assistance for Serious Illnesses

The ministry accepts applications throughout the financial year for assistance related to serious illnesses, in addition to other forms of support for people unable to afford medical treatment.

Applicants must submit a valid national ID copy and a medical report issued by a government hospital in Arabic. The report must have been issued no more than six months before the application.

A decision from the Specialized Medical Councils may also be submitted.

Applicants must not be receiving a pension and must provide a pension statement from the local Social Solidarity Directorate and an insurance printout.

The hospital’s institutional code or the bank account number of the treating medical institution must also be provided, followed by an office-based and field social assessment.

Medical Assistance for Patients at Al-Du’ah Hospital

The assistance program also includes contributions toward the treatment costs of people unable to afford inpatient care at Al-Du’ah Hospital.

Applicants must provide a valid national ID copy and an invoice from the hospital showing the amount required for treatment.

The assistance is paid to the hospital’s institutional code or the bank account of the treating medical institution, subject to the required social assessment.

Conditions for Orphan Marriage Assistance

Orphan marriage assistance requires a valid national ID copy from the applicant.

Applicants must provide a copy of the marriage certificate after the original document has been reviewed. A marriage ratification document is not accepted.

The marriage certificate must have been issued no more than one year before the application, and the marriage must be the applicant’s first marriage.

Male applicants must also provide a family registration statement.

Applicants must provide either a valid Easy Pay card copy or a bank account number certified, signed and stamped by the bank, along with the required social assessment.

Conditions for Funeral Expense Assistance

Funeral expense assistance requires a valid national ID copy and the original death certificate or an officially certified copy.

The assistance may be provided to a wife following the death of her husband or to a husband following the death of his wife, provided that no more than one year has passed since the death.

The applicant must not be receiving a pension and must provide a pension statement and an insurance printout showing that the applicant is not insured.

An office-based and field social assessment is also required.

Conditions for Living Expense Assistance

Living expense assistance is available to applicants who do not receive a pension, bank-funded expenses or a Takaful wa Karama pension.

Applicants must provide a pension statement from the Social Solidarity Directorate and an insurance printout, along with a valid national ID copy.

Divorced women must provide a copy of the divorce document, while widows must provide a copy of their husband’s death certificate.

A valid Easy Pay card copy or a certified bank account in the applicant’s name must also be provided, followed by the required social assessment.

Settling Debts of Deceased Borrowers

The support program also includes the settlement of outstanding debts owed by deceased individuals who received interest-free loans from the Ministry of Awqaf.

Required documents include a copy of the deceased borrower’s national ID, the original death certificate or an officially certified copy, and a statement showing the outstanding debt.

Applications for debtor assistance and assistance for students at government schools, institutes and universities will be accepted from October 1 to October 30, 2026.
