Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf is continuing its efforts to develop and renovate houses of worship by opening 14 mosques on Friday, August 14, 2026, as part of its nationwide plan to improve mosque facilities and provide suitable environments for worshippers.

The new openings include two newly constructed mosques, eight mosques that have undergone reconstruction and renovation, and four mosques that have been maintained and developed.

129 Mosques Opened Since July 2026

The Ministry of Awqaf announced that the total number of mosques opened since the beginning of July 2026 has reached 129 mosques.

The figure includes 83 mosques that were newly constructed or underwent reconstruction and renovation, in addition to 46 mosques that received maintenance and development work.

Mosque Development Since 2014

According to the ministry, a total of 14,808 mosques have been reconstructed, renovated, maintained, and furnished since July 2014.

The total cost of these projects has reached approximately EGP 28.567 billion, reflecting the ministry’s continued efforts to improve mosque facilities across Egypt.

Details of the Mosques Scheduled to Open

The mosques scheduled to open on Friday are distributed across several Egyptian governorates.

Kafr El-Sheikh

The Al-Nour Mosque in Al-Karadwa village, Desouk, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

The Al-Eslaby Mosque in Al-Eslaby village, Sidi Salem, has also undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Assiut

The Al-Hag Abdel Azim Mosque in Beni Megd village, Manfalut, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

The Beni Omayya Mosque in Al-Sahreeg village, Manfalut, has been newly constructed.

Beheira

The Fathallah Abdel Aty Mosque in Ezbet Shamreza, Al-Bustan village, Delengat, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Monufia

The Al-Sawalem Mosque in Arab Al-Raml village, Quesna, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Qena

The Al-Atiq Mosque in Nagaa Abu Ayat, Awlad Negm village, Nag Hammadi, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Gharbia

The Al-Rawda Al-Sharifa Mosque in Qutur has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Maintenance and development work has also been completed at the Al-Hamd Mosque in Damat village, Qutur.

Fayoum

The Al-Taqwa Mosque in Manshaet Rahmi village, Itsa, has undergone reconstruction and renovation.

Sohag

The Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque in Manshaet Bardis village, Al-Baliana, has been newly constructed.

Qalyubia

Maintenance and development work has been carried out at the Al-Rahman Mosque in Ezbet Eissa, Al-Safaina village, Toukh.

Beni Suef

The Al-Rahman Mosque, located behind the Health Insurance facility in Beni Suef city, has undergone maintenance and development.

Dakahlia

The Awad Hassanein Mosque in Ezbet Awad Hassanein, Al-Bashmour village, Dekernes, has undergone maintenance and development.
