Many Muslims choose to begin their day with remembrance and dua, seeking guidance, blessings, protection, and support while strengthening their reliance on Allah.
Dua is one of the great acts of worship, and Muslims may ask Allah for goodness in this life and the Hereafter through permissible and meaningful supplications.
Below are ten supplications that can be used at the beginning of the day. It is important to note that not every wording listed here is necessarily an established prophetic supplication; some are general duas with sound meanings.
1. A Dua for Protection
“Bismillah, the best of names; in the name of Allah, with whose name no harm can affect what is on earth or in heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing. In the name of Allah for myself and my faith, and in the name of Allah for my family and wealth.”
2. A Dua for Ease and Guidance
“O Allah, in Your planning there is no need for schemes, in Your generosity there is more than hope, in Your concealment there is what repairs shortcomings, and in Your forgiveness there is what erases mistakes. By the strength of Your planning and the greatness of Your generosity, I ask You to arrange my affairs in the best way, make my matters easy, and save me from what frightens me.”
3. A Dua for Seeking Allah’s Help
“O Allah, we seek Your help and Your forgiveness. We believe in You and rely upon You, and we praise You with all goodness. We thank You and do not deny You. You alone we worship, to You we pray and prostrate, and toward You we strive. We hope for Your mercy and fear Your punishment.”
4. A Dua for Guidance, Well-Being, and Blessings
“O Allah, guide us among those You have guided, grant us well-being among those You have granted well-being, take care of us among those You have taken care of, and bless us in what You have given us. Protect us and turn away from us the evil of what You have decreed. We seek Your forgiveness for all sins and mistakes and turn to You in repentance. There is no refuge or escape except through You.”
5. A Dua for Good Relations and a Steadfast Heart
“O Allah, make Your creation cooperative with me, and soften their hearts toward me. You have power over all things. O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.”
6. A Dua for a Good Beginning and Ending
“My Lord, open for me with goodness, conclude for me with goodness, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.”
7. A Dua for Help, Guidance, and Repentance
“O Allah, help me and do not help against me. Support me and do not support against me. Guide me and make guidance easy for me. Support me against whoever wrongs me. My Lord, make me grateful to You, mindful of You, obedient to You, humble before You, repentant and returning to You. Accept my repentance, forgive my sins, answer my supplication, strengthen my proof, guide my heart, correct my tongue, and remove resentment from my chest.”
8. A Dua for Relief From Distress
“My God, how can I call upon You while I am as I am, and how can I lose hope in You when You are You? If I do not ask You and You give me, whom should I ask to give me? If I do not call upon You and You answer me, whom should I call upon to answer me? If I do not turn to You in humility and You have mercy upon me, whom should I turn to in humility for mercy?”
9. A Dua for the Well-Being of One’s Affairs
“O Allah, Your mercy is what I hope for, so do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye. Set right all of my affairs. There is no god but You.”
10. A Dua for Divine Kindness and Ease
“O Allah, through Your subtle care in making things manageable and Your hidden kindness in bringing ease, be gentle with me in what destiny brings, and turn away evil from me. Indeed, You are capable of all things.”
How Can You Start Your Day With Dua?
A Muslim can make dua part of a regular morning routine by beginning the day with remembrance of Allah and asking Him for goodness in both this life and the Hereafter.
There is no requirement to use only one general supplication. A person can ask Allah for whatever is beneficial, including success in work and study, lawful provision, family well-being, health, guidance, and relief from difficulties.
It is also useful to distinguish between general supplications and specific adhkar or duas established from the Prophet Muhammad. Established prophetic texts have a particular status, while general supplications may be used when their meanings are sound and permissible.
Can Dua Change a Person’s Life?
Dua is a major act of worship through which a Muslim expresses dependence on Allah and hopes for His mercy and support.
However, it is not appropriate to claim that a particular wording will necessarily change destiny in a specific way or guarantee a particular result. Muslims make dua while trusting Allah and taking appropriate lawful means.
What is a good dua to start the day?
A Muslim can make any permissible supplication with a sound meaning, while also maintaining established morning adhkar.
Are all ten duas established prophetic supplications?
No. Some are general supplications rather than established prophetic wordings.
Can Muslims make dua in their own words?
Yes. Muslims may ask Allah for permissible needs using words that have sound and appropriate meanings.
What can I ask Allah for at the beginning of the day?
You can ask for guidance, protection, ease, lawful provision, good health, success, family well-being, and goodness in this life and the Hereafter.
Can dua be made for worldly matters?
Yes. Muslims may ask Allah for beneficial worldly matters as well as goodness in the Hereafter.
