Evening adhkar are among the beautiful acts of remembrance that Muslims recite at the end of the day. They include supplications for protection, forgiveness, gratitude, well-being and reliance upon Allah.

1. Ayat al-Kursi

Recite Ayat al-Kursi from Surah Al-Baqarah:

“Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all.”

Repetition: Once.

2. Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas

Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas.

Repetition: Three times for each surah.

3. “We have reached the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah”

“We have reached the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah, and praise belongs to Allah...”

The supplication asks Allah for the good of the night and what follows it and seeks refuge in Him from its evil.

4. “O Allah, by You we enter the evening”

“O Allah, by You we enter the evening, by You we enter the morning, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the return.”

Repetition: Once.

5. Sayyid al-Istighfar

“O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant...”

This is known as Sayyid al-Istighfar, the master supplication for seeking forgiveness.

6. Supplication Bearing Witness to Allah's Oneness

“O Allah, I have entered the evening calling You, the bearers of Your Throne, Your angels and all Your creation to witness that You are Allah; there is no deity except You alone, without partner...”

7. Supplication of Gratitude

“O Allah, whatever blessing has come upon me this evening, or upon any of Your creation, is from You alone, without partner. To You belongs praise and thanks.”

8. Supplication for Physical Well-Being

“O Allah, grant health to my body. O Allah, grant health to my hearing. O Allah, grant health to my sight...”

Repetition: Three times.

9. Seeking Refuge From Disbelief and Poverty

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no deity except You.”

Repetition: Three times.

10. “Allah Is Sufficient for Me”

“Allah is sufficient for me. There is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”

Repetition: Seven times.

11. Asking for Forgiveness and Well-Being

“O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter...”

Repetition: Once.

12. Supplication of the Creator of the Heavens and Earth

“O Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord and Sovereign of everything...”

The supplication seeks refuge in Allah from the evil within oneself and from the evil of Satan.

13. “In the Name of Allah, With Whose Name Nothing Can Harm”

“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”

14. “I Am Content With Allah as My Lord”

“I am content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as my Prophet.”

15. “O Ever-Living, O Sustainer”

“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your mercy I seek relief. Set right all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.”

16. “We Have Entered the Evening Upon the Natural Faith of Islam”

“We have entered the evening upon the natural faith of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad...”

18. “There Is No Deity Except Allah Alone”

“There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things.”

“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”

20. Sending Blessings Upon the Prophet
