Ayat al-Kursi

Allah says:

“Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”

[Al-Baqarah: 255]

Ayat al-Kursi is recited once.

Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas

The following three surahs are recited:

• Surah Al-Ikhlas: 3 times.
• Surah Al-Falaq: 3 times.
• Surah An-Nas: 3 times.

These three surahs are among the well-known prophetic remembrances for protection in the morning and evening.

Sayyid al-Istighfar

The master supplication for seeking forgiveness is:

“O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I abide by Your covenant and promise as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sins, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.”

It is recited once.

Evening Remembrance and Tawhid

It is recommended to say:

“We have entered the evening and the dominion belongs to Allah. Praise belongs to Allah. There is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs praise, and He has power over all things. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good that follows it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil that follows it. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the evil of old age. My Lord, I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.”

Supplication for Health and Well-Being

Say:

“O Allah, grant health to my body. O Allah, grant health to my hearing. O Allah, grant health to my sight. There is no deity except You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no deity except You.”

This supplication is recited three times.

Remembrance for Protection from Harm

Say:

“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

It is recited three times.

Being Content with Allah

Say:

“I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as my Prophet.”

It is recited three times.

Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi

Say:

“Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him.”

It is recited 100 times.

Supplication for Seeking Allah's Help

Say:

“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Set right all my affairs, and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.”

Evening Remembrance Upon the Fitrah

Among the evening remembrances is:

“We have entered the evening upon the natural disposition of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and upon the way of our father Abraham, who was upright and a Muslim and was not among the polytheists.”
