Ruling on divorce during menstruation
She stated that divorce during menstruation is considered an “innovated divorce,” while divorce during purity is a “Sunnah-compliant divorce.” This classification refers to timing, not validity.
She confirmed that if all conditions of divorce are met, it still takes effect even during menstruation, although the husband bears sin for violating the recommended timing.

She explained that Islamic law discourages divorce during menstruation because it prolongs the waiting period (Iddah) for the woman.

She added that most scholars agree the divorce is valid if its conditions are met, even if sinful due to improper timing.

For pregnant women, the waiting period ends upon delivery, based on the Quranic verse stating that their term is until they give birth. For non-pregnant women, it is three purity cycles, or three months for those who do not menstruate.
